BMW 3 Series (330i, M340i)
BMW 3 Series (330i, M340i). The most common BMW we service. Standard four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines. Oil changes and routine services fall at the lower end of the price range.
A CBS warning light, deferred maintenance, and an overdue oil change aren’t just annoyances on your BMW’s dash. They’re the early signs of expensive problems waiting to happen. South Bay Luxury Motors provides factory scheduled BMW maintenance, oil changes, and full inspections in Torrance that keep your engine running at peak performance and prevent costly breakdowns. From brake fluid flushes and spark plug replacement to transmission fluid service and diagnostic scans, we handle every interval your BMW requires.
A BMW oil change at an independent shop costs $120 to $250 depending on your model and engine. An annual service with oil, filter, and inspection runs $175 to $350. Major milestone services at 60,000 or 90,000 miles range from $500 to $1,500.
At the BMW dealer, those same services cost 30 to 50 percent more. A dealer oil change on a 3 Series can hit $200 to $350. A major service can exceed $2,000.
BMW maintenance cost breaks down by model:
BMW 3 Series (330i, M340i). The most common BMW we service. Standard four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines. Oil changes and routine services fall at the lower end of the price range.
BMW X5 and X7. Larger engines, more fluid capacity, and additional systems like air suspension push costs higher than a sedan. BMW X5 maintenance runs roughly 20 percent more than a 3 Series.
BMW M Series (M3, M4, M5). Performance engines with specific oil requirements, larger brake systems, and tighter service intervals. M car maintenance costs more because the car demands more.
BMW X1 and X3. BMW X1 scheduled maintenance and X3 service tend to be the most affordable in the lineup. Smaller engines, simpler systems.
We offer Affirm financing for larger services, so a 60k or 90k milestone doesn’t have to wait because of the bill.
CBS stands for Condition Based Service. It’s BMW’s onboard maintenance monitoring system, and it’s more sophisticated than a simple mileage counter.
Your BMW tracks driving conditions, engine temperature, fuel quality, short trips vs. highway miles, and actual fluid condition through sensors. Based on that data, it calculates when each service item is actually due, not just when a generic mileage threshold is reached.
That’s why two identical 330i’s driven differently will show different service intervals. The one doing highway commuting might go 12,000 miles between oil changes. The one doing short, cold-start city trips might trigger at 8,000 miles.
When your BMW displays a CBS notification, here’s what it’s telling you:
“Engine oil” or oil indicator: Oil change due. This is the most common CBS alert.
“Brake fluid”: Brake fluid flush due. BMW calls for this every two years.
“Vehicle check”: Full inspection recommended. BMW wants a technician to check the car’s overall condition.
“Front/Rear brakes”: Brake pads or rotors need attention. The CBS system uses brake pad sensors to estimate remaining life.
“Spark plugs”: Spark plug replacement due, typically around 60,000 miles.
We read and reset CBS indicators as part of every service. When you pick up your car, the maintenance reminders reflect the work that was done.
Here’s the BMW maintenance schedule broken down by interval. This applies to most modern BMW models, though M cars and specific engines may have shorter intervals.

About BMW LL-01 oil: BMW requires Longlife-01 certified oil in most models. This isn’t marketing. LL-01 oil has specific additive packages designed for BMW’s extended drain intervals and emission systems. Using non-certified oil can trigger CBS errors, cause excessive engine wear, and potentially void warranty claims. We exclusively use LL-01 certified synthetic oil for every BMW oil change.
BMW’s official interval is 10,000 to 15,000 miles between oil changes. We typically recommend 7,500 to 10,000 miles, especially for cars doing South Bay commuting with frequent short trips and stop-and-go traffic. BMW’s interval assumes ideal conditions that most real-world driving doesn’t match.
Your BMW warranty stays intact with independent service. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act guarantees your right to have maintenance performed at any qualified shop without voiding your factory warranty. The dealer can’t refuse a warranty claim because you got your oil changed somewhere else.

Porsche quoted me $5,000 for a brake job. I called Shawn, and over the phone, he gave me a price that was a fraction of that.
I recently brought my 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo… What I appreciated most was their honesty; they provided a 25-point inspection… It is rare to find a shop that treats both the customer and the car with this much respect.
I have a Porsche 911 and I am very selective on who I have work on my car. Expert level knowledge on luxury cars.
The dealership claimed it was just a battery issue. When the problem persisted, I turned to South Bay Luxury Motors and they quickly identified and resolved the actual issue with precision.
These dudes know what they’re doing. I took my Audi in and they treated it like it was their own. Straightforward, honest…
